Equipment Designer

AGI VIS is seeking a Designer to join the Engineering Design team at our manufacturing facility in Oak Bluff.
As a Designer, you would be responsible for assisting in the design and development of innovative products and technologies for commercial bulk material handling machinery, and storage.

This is a permanent full-time position that reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Working independently with limited direction, information, and templates to create designs and accurate SolidWorks models for customer approval
  • Review designs with Engineering Manager and send to the customer for approval
  • Generate accurate SolidWorks models, drawings, and bills of materials for release to production
  • Understand the needs of the AGI VIS production team when generating documentation
  • Review ERP bills of materials and routing, against the final generated production drawings, so other team members can accurately and confidently order materials, gearboxes, motors, bearings, etc.
  • Develop new equipment product lines or expand existing products lines to different model sizes
  • Improve manufacturing processes, or procedures, by making existing tasks or workflows easier and/or more cost effective
  • Work with sales team to prepare initial designs and bill of materials for quotations
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education with a focus on Drafting, or a combination of education and experience is preferred
  • Background using complex file systems, Engineering Product Data Management (EPDM) systems, and other product development systems would be considered an asset
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or other parametric CAD software
  • Mechanical aptitude and a desire to work in a fabricated metal environment, with a propensity for machine design
  • Previous experience in equipment manufacturing would be considered an asset
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
  • Ability to own personal development and gain an understanding of the equipment that we manufacture, how it is produced and why designs are made the way they are

Production Scheduler

AGI VIS is looking for a Production Scheduler to join their Operations Team at their facility in Oak Bluff, MB.  The primary function of this position is to create master project schedules based on company engineering and production capacity, to ensure customer satisfaction, 100% accuracy of all schedules, monitor production progress to ensure customer orders are produced for shipments, and to track build out progress.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and schedule manufacturing work orders by work center in Company ERP, Made2Manage based on order priorities and delivery date.
  • Utilize purchased part shortage reports to assist in manufacturing planning.
  • Use ERP to assist in development of scheduling tools to be used within the plant.
  • Create and monitor production hours reports, identify discrepancies or errors in reporting. Make adjustments in time tracking system as necessary.
  • Review engineering change notices (ECN) and ensure any additional manufacturing requirements are accounted for.
  • Coordinates preliminary weekly/daily schedules with Operations Manager to include critical requirements.
  • Communicates “at risk” deliveries to appropriate stakeholders to ensure customer expectations are met or managed.
  • Serve as a factory subject matter expert (SME) for ERP production planning and scheduling modules.
  • Data analysis and reporting of key performance indicators such as: delivery performance, backlog, and performance to master schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College and a minimum of one year related experience
  • Experience in manufacturing material purchasing would be considered an asset
  • Must have prior experience in manufacturing planning and scheduling
  • Prior experience in development of scheduling tools and processes is desired
  • Skilled communicator, able to communicate tasks and issues across all functions of the company
  • Strong tactical planning, able to devise a detailed plan to implement specific goals consistent with the business strategy
  • Must excel at working in a team environment with employees at all levels in the organization
  • Self-starter, able to work independently to deliver results
  • Strong ability to lead and influence without authority. Must have strong customer service skills
  • Proven analytical capabilities, with a basic understanding of statistical analysis techniques
  • Able to write routine reports and correspondence to be shared across the organization
  • Basic understanding of inventory management and control.
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness, dealing with complexity, and ability to analyze information.
  • Knowledge of LEAN and Six Sigma Manufacturing process and methodologies a plus; as is a green or black belt certification
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Experience with and understanding of multiple planning systems (MS Project, ERP, JIT) is preferred

Safety & Operations Coordinator

The AGI VIS Safety and Operations Coordinator is responsible for all health and safety related activities and initiatives within the division. They will have a strong understanding of safety legislation and requirements, have exceptional interpersonal skills and work collaboratively with all AGI VIS team members.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Work closely with management and supervisors to ensure that team members and the working environment meet safety standards
  • Stay current on changes to health and safety legislation and best practices, and advise management on changes that impact AGI VIS operations
  • Provide coaching and advise management on safety related issues within the organization, providing interpretation on current legislation and implementation within the division
  • Complete health & safety reporting on a monthly basis (ie. flash reports)
  • Organize regular health and safety training for team members, working with outside training providers where necessary
  • Develop, review and revise safe work procedures for the division
  • Develop site-specific emergency response plans for all AGI VIS locations and communicate this to management and team members as required
  • Report any unsafe work or workplace hazards to the management team and ensure that all issues are properly documented
  • Work with Human Resources and department managers when safety violations occur, and disciplinary action is required
  • Review PPE requirements and stay up to date on new equipment or resources that may be a benefit to AGI VIS, review cost to the company and to the employee to ensure that we are getting the most value out of our PPE
  • Participate and advise the AGI VIS JHSC, ensuring that regular meetings are being held, preparing the required meeting agenda, completing the meeting minutes and reviewing these minutes with the management team and addressing any urgent concerns and recommendations accordingly
  • Be the main point of contact for managers, supervisors and team members regarding safety incidents in the workplace, reviewing and investigating incidents as required
  • Work with Human Resources to manage WCB claims, ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed and filed
  • Ensure that sick or injured employees are treated on-site if required and arrangements made for transportation to the hospital as requested by the employee
  • Attend regular Made Safe meetings to learn about safety programs within other organizations and to stay up-to-date on safe work practices
  • Provide safety orientation for outside contractors or business partners that have been hired to perform work at our facility
  • Responsible for completing safety inspections, including but not limited to emergency lighting, AED, first aid kit and hazard analysis’
  • Arrange for regular inspections to be completed for fire suppression, fire extinguishers, vacuum lifters, overhead cranes, etc. working with external business partners as necessary
  • Review health and safety invoices and provide approval as needed
  • Develop, facilitate or organize the appropriate safety training for AGI VIS team members, including but not limited to respirator protection, fall protection, scissor lift and WHMIS
  • Maintain safety training spreadsheet and track participation, expiry dates and course dates accordingly
  • Maintain the AGI VSI MSDS binder and ensure that it is current and up-to-date
  • Create and distribute Tool Box Talks for stand-up meetings
  • All other duties as assigned.

Operations Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain spreadsheets and documentation for facility maintenance, including but not limited to maintenance documents and service agreements
  • Arrange service work on overhead doors and overhead cranes as needed
  • Provide operational support for the purchasing department as needed
  • Assist in the ordering of materials for the facility and monitoring of material inventory as needed
  • Work with outside suppliers on pricing, quality, delivery and invoicing concerns
  • Source alternate supplier/vendor information as needed
  • Maintain the AGI VIS housekeeping spreadsheet
  • Provide back-up for payroll and attendance tracking activities if needed
  • Coordinate and organize staff events, delegating and working with other team members as appropriate
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a safety related role in a manufacturing environment
  • Post-secondary education and certification in Occupational Health & Safety or combination of education and hands-on experience
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and provincial health & safety legislation and applicable standards and guidelines
  • Experience developing and facilitating training in a group setting
  • Strong computer skills with experience in health & safety platforms
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to champion health & safety policies and procedures in all areas of the division
  • Ability to work positively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
